Google #FAIL

Sometimes, when I get bored, I play around with sites like Google. Barry was sitting there talking about how much he missed seeing the Steelers play, and before long, we were Googling how to get from Hawaii to Pittsburgh, including a quick and dirty Google Maps. So what's the best way to get from Honolulu to Pittsburgh according to Google Maps?

That doesn't look so bad. But, let's take a closer look at step 14:

That's right - Google recommends we kayak across the Pacific Ocean - all 2,756 miles from the north shore of Oahu to some park in Seattle. It'll only take us just over 15 days including the driving time - not bad, eh?

Personally, I'd tag that as #humour instead of #fail.

That's a Google WIN. :D And if you're going to Japan or Australia from North America, it has you kayak to Hawaii, and then Kayak to Tokyo and then, for Australia, kayaking from Japan to Australia! (For some reason, you can't get from Japan to the Asian mainland on Google maps, though; seems like kayaking the Sea of Japan should be nothing compared to the Pacific, but there you go!)

Someone had a good sense of humor there. :-)

They also used to (although, alas, they've changed it) have "swim across the Atlantic" if you were going from a North American location to a European location or vice versa.

No - if it said "paddle boat across the Pacific Ocean" or "gondola across the Pacific Ocean", THAT would be a WIN. :)

Hysterical.

How does the expression go? Ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer?

Kudos to Barry for liking the Steelers, though.

Google: Doing their bit to encourage fit and active lifestyles.

I think that may be a wee bit more that 30 minutes a day though.

I think that is the biggest thing that the internet has spawned...random thoughts that are curiously connected, somehow. It's like ADHD.

Too funny!... did they recommend hitchhiking across the northern tier of states 'til you hit the Great Lakes???

Hope you've got a good outrigger on that kayak!

That assumes people have a kayak. At least swimming across the Pacific doesn't require much (except extreme fitness).
They should make step 1: buy a kayak.
